The northern Telangana districts of the AP are deemed as backward areas, primarily dependent on agriculture and needs higher levels of accuracy while planning any Socio-Economic project undertaken by Government or an NGO. The thrust of Geo Informatics is on acquiring the spatial and non-spatial data, creating a data base, modifying the same according to the necessities of different projects and getting quick and updated conclusions that become vital in the process of planning.
The different programmes taken up by the department as part of the student curriculum becomes handy for the agricultural activities of the region because it becomes easy to plan agricultural sector related aspects with a deeper understanding of different factors involved in it giving an holistic approach to the problem. Rural development, which is going to be included as part of the syllabus in final year curriculum, gives a broader perspective for students in understanding the rural dynamics. Not only creating a wide range of data base covering all the important planning aspects but also the same will be continuously updated because of it becomes easy for accurate planning.
